Another problem...

It seems our main roof line is caving! It has sunk anywhere from 6-8 inches in places. They don't know what is causing it. ;( it seems that you always find more than you bargain for!!! So what does this mean? Well they are gonna do some searching in the teeny tiny attic and see if they can just reinforce some of the areas or if there is a bigger problem.

When you look at the spaces, it doesn't LOOK like much has gotten finished ;( but I am assured that we are on target. They spent this week getting all the framing up and even the sheering (plywood) on the roof. They had to do a lot of work on the roof.  It's harder now that we are all home... Weird! Think I may have to disappear for a while everyday. Who knows...

Here are the pics. If you look really really closely you will see the string that shows the sag in the peak of the roof line. Kinda scary!!!

I've been framed...

not a whole lot to report... but after 6 weeks of construction  we have framed walls and framed roofs! :) it's neat to see the plans coming to life...

our grumpy "Gus" is still grumpy! :) a little more so this week as his partner in crime has not been around to help him. I'm pretty impressed with this old curmudgeon! he has gotten a lot of big beams laid!

I'm sure more to come...

So weird...

There is so much going on at my house ;( I feel like there is no where to go to get away from the craziness ;(.   But the other day I figured out to go into what used to be my sons room (which is now is open to the backyard) and shut the door - I even locked it - and set up my patio lounge chair on the bare concrete, with a beer, just to GET AWAY! My husband was funny, he says "you know the boys can just walk around right?" I said "yeah but it'll take em a good ten minutes to figure that out!" Hahaha

Also this everything being EVERYWHERE is making me crazy ;( some of my clothes are hanging in the front room, some in my sons room and some folded in the living room! Don't even get me started on where my shoes are... I would not say I was a clean freak or anything like that. But I am definitely a woman of order!  Everything has its own space, even my piles and clutter are in THEIR place!

Also, I am the queen of my double wide trailer!!! I am the only female, even the animals are male! I like it that way most of the time! Except right now! We only have one functional bathroom! So it is impossible to have any privacy when taking a bath or using the can!  We have one bathroom that is completely open to the outside so using that toilet is a tad out of the question. They had placed some plywood walls around the toilet to make it feel more private, so my neighbors couldn't watch... But yesterday they even took those down ;(

Things are looking good tho. Almost all the frames of the walls are up ;) that's encouraging! I am excited to see where we get today. The roof is pulled back and all the roof tiles are off. Most of the actual walls have been stripped down to the studs and the lines are drawn on the concrete for where stuff is going.  I get glimpses of where furniture should go and how the windows will be and I find myself decorating each space. ;) that's encouraging.

Here are some more pics as of this morning...

Living au natural...

Well it has officially been over 5 weeks since the start of this endeavor! I am thrilled and amazed at how much has been accomplished in these past few weeks actually. Especially as I look back over the pictures... Wow!!!!!! This brings us to the work that has been accomplished so far this week...

Monday the framer showed up. He is this older gruff and tuff guy... We will just call him"Gus" ;). He is a rather cranky curmudgeon, but very sweet ;). I greet him every morning with a sweet tone and he kinda barks back at me! It's funny! But I guess that is our dance! He reminds me of my grandpa! He came in and peeled back the ceiling all the way back to the rafters. Weird! My hubby helped "Gus" and our guy pull up all the flooring and knock in the rest of the drywall in both our room and in the boys existing room. When I got home there was nothing left but studs. Such a strange feeling. Our bathroom was still in existence... When I left for work... When I got home we knocked out the rotten tile for the shower and since all the studs had rotted out it was just OPEN to the outside. Also there was a lot of water rot in the wall between the bathroom and bedroom so they just took it out! CRAZY! So you walk into our room and the bathroom is open not only to the outside but also to the bedroom which also is completely OPEN to the outside! So now there is no longer floor tile, not longer a shower pan or tile and no longer even a sink ;(. just a poor lonely toilet! It works tho!!!! So that's good! But who wants to use the can for EVERYONE to seeeeee? Ewwwwwww

Tuesday, "Gus" put up some plywood around our potty so we can use it with privacy! ;) so sweeeeet!!!!  They continued to pull back all the ceilings and clear out all the nasty insulation! My sons Athsma is really acting up tho ;( poor baby! All the little dust and fiberglass particles floating around is doing a number on my youngest's breathing and my sinuses!!! Not fun! I have banished him to my autistic sons room because it is a safe little bubble in the house. The is no construction going on in there. Sleeping in the front room is killing my poor hubby ;(... He doesn't sleep well unless it is pitch black. And with the boys all sleeping in the next room there are all sorts of noises: snoring, snorting, farting... You name it!!!!  Also a bunch of wires had to be cut ;(. I have no electricity in the one fully functioning bathroom... The lights in the kitchen aren't working, limited electricity in my sons room, none of the outlets in the garage are working either. This part is NO FUN! ;(

Wednesday, this morning the electrician was at the house with "Gus" and our guy and my hubby. And I learned for the first time that we are getting a new vaulted ceiling in our room!!! Woo Hoo!!! So excited! Also learned that we can push the piping back in our bathroom's shower 3-4 inches!!!! That shower is so little so any extra space is a plus ;)! I am excited. To see what happens today more pics later!

HI-YA

HI-YA!!!!

So I started writing this last week then it disappeared ;( ... So. I shall start over. Last week my boys got to break through the walls! It was like a scene out of a bad Kung foo film actually!!! To hear my kids, and the neighbor boy focus all their strength and yell out things like HI-YA and DIE as they kick through the drywall and hit walls with their palms was hilarious! I even got in on the action and kicked through in my long skirt. My white flat flew through the air from the backyard into the middle of the room! Hahaha! My 12 year old jumped through the wall to gallantly retrieve my "slipper"... What a gentleman!

We moved our bed into the front room now and the boys all have their mattresses in the living room. It is like a giant CAMPOUT! Their are clothes and dressers EVERYWHERE! It kinda feels like a dream... Maybe a nightmare. But I have to say I am in high spirits about it right now, so I guess that's nothing to shake a stick at!

It felt good to be at this place in construction after only 4 1//2 weeks! Then we spent the rest of the day stripping the roof for the framer to come today. There are lots of pics. Enjoy...
